Official Touch and Go Pushead Lamort Interview.
Pushead Lamort--Pushead-A blemish on society,
Lamort=death(French Tarot card).

TV:

What inspires you to do a certain piece of art?

Pushead:

Inspiration through imagination. Sometimes you can't openly
voice an opinion or idea without some wide mouth telling you
you don't know what you are talking about...What is the purpose
if a debate with a bloated ego? So you get ideas about things
you see happening around you in everyday life and I just interprate
them as demented nightmares or as such. Most people procrastinate
too much to ever believe that something is wrong. They always wait
til the last minute when everything is crumbling around them. They
only listen to pain and fear. If someone cringes at the sight of
a pus-gore piece then I've accomplished something. Everyone who
talks about "Blood Sausage" illo, they felt the pain and they won't
forget, maybe it hit an inner phobia(or created one, ed) but nobody
will ever really realize the reality of such an illustration. It's
just fiction. Laughing at them...
It doesn't have to be bloody or sick to be effective, but the
insanity of society runs in circles just to be in fear. When you
close your eyes, the subconsious state brings out your brain waves
in dreams, if they are nightmares you are living a hostile life or
wish to...If they are pleasant-it is something you wish for or have.
Either way the antagonist is always fear and the pain is pushead.

TV:

Who basically do you draw for?

Pushead:

I am not a one band person or as such. I enjoy drawing who ratify
at each piece-the people of appreciation-those who take the time to
look at what there is there and then positive/negative it. Basically,
I must like the band or magazine for which I draw...or it is just a
sellout on my part cuz then there isn't much fun in doing illustrations
things you really don't care for...don't want to be a corporate robot.
It is my learned ability not theirs. People I've done art for...SHAWN/BYO,
ABBIE AND AL, DESTRUCTORS,NECROS,DISCHORD(Rare-Jeff hides them),MISFITS,
ARTIFICIAL PEACE, MEATMEN, ROUGH TRADE, HEADCLEANERS(shesk), SKEENO GANG,
FORCED EXPOSURE, 'VOTE'(Finland),F.U.'S and the mighty TOUCH AND GO, plus
more I'm forgetting.

TV:

When did you get started?

Pushead:

Started when i was 6-8 years old-entered all these junior artist contests
all the time. When I went to school took lots of art courses, but they
never really taught me what I know now. My major influences are from
comic book type illustrators like Wrightson, Nino Eisner,Hogarth, Kirby
and Nerbes. I just marvelled at the pen and brush strokes. It was a
serious fascination that helped my art grow.
Now that I'm started I don't want to finish...

TV:

What are your favorite pieces?

Pushead:

Hard to pick favorites-Good or bad. They each contain certain learning
qualities that have helped my style progress. "Garbage Babies" and "No Escape
from the Dead" have items i really enjoy. Everyone has a different opinion
or choice though.
Lynching scene from "Dawn of the Dead 2" and "Drink, Drug, Die". It's a bummer
when good illos are used for gigs that get cancelled, but then they become
collectors items i guess

TV:

Has anyone threatened you or become angry because of the way they were depicted
in one of your drawings?

Pushead:

Kinda early to tell, eh TV? Watch your mail.
Where I live, I am well known and well hated but most people could never tell
you what I look like or if I am Pushead. I only exist for the evil of my art
table and the pains of continuous illustrating, cramps, butt sores, etc.

TV:

What are your fave bands?

Pushead:

Hardcore:DISCHARGE, GANG GREEN(rip), SS DECONTROL, MINOR THREAT,
TERVEET KADET,NEOS, RUDIMENTARY PENI, 7 SECONDS, DISORDER, NECROS,
MISFITS, FAITH, MEATMEN, DOUBLE O, ADRENALIN OD, TAR BABIES, DESTRUCTORS,
HUVUDUATT(headcleaners), AND (uk) SUBHUMANS to name a few..Other-Passport,
Allan holdsworth, happy the man, etc..

TV:

What is the grossest thing you've ever heard?

Pushead:

The time this guy I know was fucking his girlfriend and he bumped into something
and it turned out to be a tampon that she had forgotten to take out months ago. She
didn't even know it was there. It took her awhile to get it out and it was evil
looking. Maybe an illo will help you get the idea-HAHA...
